Seconda edizione, e prima italiana, dell'ultima Responsio di Erasmo alle accuse mossegli da Alberto Pio, principe di Capri, uno dei suoi maggiori oppositori in Italia. Cfr. Contemporaries of Erasmus III, 87-88: «During the last six years of his life Alberto engaged in a famous controversy with Erasmus, the focal point of which was the crucial question of Erasmus' relationship with Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation». L'ultimo attacco di Alberto Pio era stato pubblicato da Bade due mesi dopo la sua morte, nel marzo 1531; «Erasmus' reply was both swift and violent. The Apologia adversus rhapsodias Albertii Pii was printed in June 1531 (Basel: Froben) and accused Alberto of including numerous lies and false citations in his work».
