This polychrome earthenware sauce boat, attributed to the Antonibon factory in Nove di Bassano, dates to the mid-19th century. The piece is meticulously modeled in the shape of a crouching duck perched on a grassy mound. The decorative detailing showcases a relief pattern of feathers on the back, sides, and tail of the duck, enhancing its naturalistic appearance. An incised numeral is found beneath the lid, indicative of its origin.

The salsiera is notable not only for its aesthetic charm but also for its craftsmanship, which reflects the techniques of northern Italian pottery of the period. It is accompanied by a companion piece in the form of a turtledove with a lid, originating from the late 18th century. It is important to note that the salsiera has undergone restoration, which is critical when considering its overall conservation state and provenance.
